Cultivated for thousands of years, Jasmine comes from the Arabic word "Yasmin" which means fragrant flower. From tea to traditional medicine for eye and skin diseases, it has many uses today.  In Thailand, it is also known as a symbol of mother’s love. Thus, it is often gifted to mothers on August 12th which is the country's Mother's Day. Also known as “Queen of the Night”, Jasmine flowers bloom only at night, adding to its mystique and allure.

In aromatherapy uses, Jasmine is known to be an antidepressant, antiseptic and aphrodisiac. Its ability to improve moods can be attributed to the fact that it triggers the release of hormones such as serotonin. Used extensively in Indian weddings not only for its beauty, the scent is believed to stimulate the human brain and making individuals more attune to sexual cues.

Used on skin, Jasmine essential oil is known to get rid of dark spots and unevenness. It also helps lighten acne scars over time, revealing healthy, radiant skin. Due to its hormone-balancing attributes, it can also be used to balance either dryness or oiliness both on the face and scalp. In fact, it is often used in hair care to improve dryness that causes dandruff while antiseptic properties eliminate any bad bacteria from the scalp.
